We will explore this week’s Torah portion during the service, which will focus on Shavuot & the Book of Ruth.

After the Torah Service, we will have a Kiddush Lunch & have a discussion regarding Shavuot.

We will have our traditional bagels, lox & cream cheese, but also some cheesecake. (And some non-dairy versions for those that cannot have dairy.) Please bring a lunch dish to share.

• All-Night Torah Study: Many Jews stay up all night studying Torah, a practice known as Tikkun Leil Shavuot, which symbolizes the Israelites' preparation for receiving the Torah.

  Reading the Book of Ruth: This is a common practice during Shavuot, as Ruth's story is associated with the harvest season and her acceptance of Judaism parallels the Jewish people's acceptance of the Torah.

  Dairy Foods: It is customary to eat dairy dishes during Shavuot, with many enjoying cheesecake and other dairy products.
